If you’re in the mood for a cycling weekend or a training camp, you can book the entire Aggershøj — or simply reserve the number of rooms you need.
Cycling on Ærø is for bon vivants with a high max heart rate. What at first hungry glance appears to be idyllic country roads in the South Funen Archipelago offers raw challenges in the saddle for riders of every kind. There are stretches that appeal to lighter riders with a sharp punch who excel on the hills; but there are also sections where the often slightly heavier classic riders — true bike handlers — can skillfully navigate the curves on the island’s characteristic small country roads.
An island in the South Funen Archipelago without a single traffic light, sea views along most routes, and a stay at a cozy guesthouse in the old harbor town of Marstal — the setting is perfect for an ideal training weekend.

Thursday
We check in at Aggershøj Guesthouse, with the option of a short warm-up ride — or you can prepare your bike in the workshop located in the basement.
Tapas can be ordered for Thursday evening.
Friday
After breakfast at the guesthouse, we head out to test our legs on the hills and along a beautiful route that takes us around much of the island. The ride will be 80–100 km.
After approximately 80 km, we arrive at Ærø Brewery, where we can enjoy a lovely lunch before rolling the final 10 km back home. Of course, you may choose to continue on your own toward Marstal and have lunch there instead. There will be coffee and cake at Aggershøj after the ride, as well as the option to purchase beer, wine, and soft drinks.
The bar opens at 5:00 pm, and a communal long-table dinner is served at 7:00 pm.
Saturday
After another delicious breakfast at the guesthouse, we set out on the island’s absolute queen stage — 150 km, taking you to every corner of Ærø. The route is called “The 5 Peaks,” which makes perfect sense when you look at the map. If your legs give up, there is always the option to shorten the route and roll back along the country roads. We head out and set up a small refreshment stop with coffee, cake, and water refills.
Coffee will be served at Aggershøj after the ride, with the option to purchase beer, wine, and soft drinks.
The bar opens at 5:00 pm, followed by a communal long-table dinner at 7:00 pm.
Sunday
We enjoy an early breakfast before heading out on one of two routes. There will be the option of a challenging ride focused on intervals and friendly competition, or a more relaxed ride aimed at adding steady kilometers to the legs while seeing more of the island. Both routes include the opportunity for a great coffee stop in Ærøskøbing — a town well worth visiting in every way.
